Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about our dental services and practice.
How often should I visit the dentist?
We recommend visiting every six months for a routine checkup and professional cleaning. Regular visits allow us to detect potential problems early. Some patients with gum disease may need more frequent visits.
What should I do in a dental emergency?
Call us immediately at 386-418-3636. Common emergencies include severe toothache, a knocked-out tooth, a broken crown, or a cracked tooth. If a tooth is knocked out, try to place it back in the socket or keep it in milk until you can see us.
Does teeth whitening damage my teeth?
Professional teeth whitening is safe and does not damage tooth enamel. We recommend professional Zoom! whitening for the best and safest results.
What are veneers and how long do they last?
Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-made shells bonded to the front of your teeth. They can correct chips, gaps, discoloration, and misalignment. With proper care, they typically last 10 to 15 years or longer.
Is Invisalign right for me?
Invisalign can treat many of the same issues as traditional braces. It works best for mild to moderate orthodontic cases. Schedule a consultation with Dr. Cauchon to find out.
Do dental implants hurt?
Most patients report the procedure is more comfortable than expected. Local anesthesia is used, and post-operative discomfort is typically managed with over-the-counter pain medication.
What is LVI and why does it matter?
LVI stands for the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. Dr. Cauchon has earned Fellowship status at LVI, meaning he has completed extensive advanced training in cosmetic, restorative, and neuromuscular dentistry. Learn more →
